YouTube Music, native.
A desktop client for Linux, Windows and macOS, written in Rust. No browser engine behind it: playback goes through mpv, and the app talks to YouTube through the same internal API the website uses.
What it does
All featuresNo browser inside
Rust and egui draw the interface, mpv plays the music. No Electron, no web view, nothing idling in the background.
Up next, in two parts
The songs you queued stay apart from the radio YouTube adds after them. Steer it with Familiar, Discover, a decade or a genre.
Synced lyrics
Line-by-line timing from LRCLIB, beside the cover in a fullscreen player with its own queue drawer.
Themes are CSS files
23 to start from. Change three colours in a text file, save, and the app repaints.
See-through, if you like
Window transparency with real background blur on KDE Plasma, niri, GNOME 51+, Windows and macOS.
Music videos
Watch a song's music video in the app. Click to pause, double-click for fullscreen.
Local files and offline
Your own folders as a browsable tree. With Premium, downloads with tags and cover art, and an offline mode.
Your library, your order
Drag playlists into place, choose which Home sections come first, and see the songs you liked on every artist page.
Screenshots
23 themes, all plain CSS
Each theme is a CSS file in your config folder. Edit one and the app repaints; add one and it shows up in Settings. Window transparency and background blur work on KDE Plasma (Wayland), niri, GNOME 51+, Windows and macOS.
